The mind is everything. What you think you become.

Gautama Buddha

Is one of the most popular quotes of our respected Buddha. This quote is not only logical, but it is also practical. The meaning of this quote can be elaborated in various ways. To put it simply, what you think has an impact on what you become. If you have a doubtful mind, you will be always doubtful and cautious with everyone, and you will start to have difficulty trusting people around you. On the other hand, if you think about becoming wealthy, you will start to be focused on researching on how to become rich.

According to my researches, I would like to choose to explain to you how our mind works in a simple way like this, especially for those who aren’t a fan of reading articles with complicated or sophisticated terms.

I’d like to take the relation of our body and food as an example. It’s said you are a result of your food. Consider that your mind is your body. What you think is your food. If you feed your body with healthy food such as fish, vegetable, fruit and regular exercise, guess what we will become? Not fish and nor vegetable, of course! Consuming healthy food and doing regular exercise will give you a good health and fit body. This means, as a result, you will look healthy and fit.

On the other hand, if you have an unhealthy lifestyle, for example, consuming unhealthy food daily such as oily food, junk food, etc, and skipping exercise, you will be overweight and have other diseases which could be diabetes, blood pressure, for instance.

Therefore, it means that if you feed your mind with positivity, you will become a positive person, and you’ll spread positivity to others. In contrary, if you feed your mind with anger or negativity, you will become an aggressive or negative person. I hope this makes sense to you.

I know that everyone is in a different situation. Sometimes it’s really hard to stay positive while you’re having a hardship. However, try to stay optimistic by focusing on solutions rather the problems. This will help you control what happens to you rather than let it control you.

Take-aways

  • Control your mind, or your mind controls you.
  • Keep your mind away from rubbish. If you let it see rubbish every day, it will become a rubbish bin. Thus, you will get bad smell every day.
  • To avoid that, feed your mind with only good things and power that will help you achieve your goal.
